Review: Wanted by Betsy Schow

Title: Wanted (The Storymakers #2)
Author: Betsy Schow
Published: February 7th 2017
Date Read: April 17th – 22nd 2017
Read In: English

Fairy-Tale Survival Guide Rule No. 52:
No matter how difficult the obstacles or all-powerful the evil villain, one can rest assured that the hero of the story never dies. The sidekicks though... they should be worried.

Rexi Hood is proud to be an outlaw.
After all, she's the daughter of the infamous Robin Hood. But sidekick? Accomplice? Sorry, that wasn't in her story despription. Yeah, she and Princess Dorthea of Emerald have been inseparable since they teamed up to fight the wickedest witch. But if Rexi doesn't figure out how to break the curse that binds them, forget being overshadowed by the spirited princess, Rexi's going to become a Forgotten, wiped from the pages of Story and reduced to a puddle of ink.

Not happening. No way in Spell.

Rexi's plan? Steal the sword Excalibur and use its magic to write her own tale. But Gwenevere has opened a new Academy of Villains in Camelot and danger lurks behind every plot twist. And you know how it goes in Story: keep your friends close and your enemies closer...

I really enjoyed Spelled last year and I was so excited for Wanted, but I'd say I still liked Spelled more. Wanted was a little long for not-so-much story, but since I really liked Rexi in Spelled, I quite enjoyed it too. The ending was a huge cliffhanger I guess, so there definitely will be another book in this series. I really liked how Betsy Schow made Rexi the leader of this story and not Dorthea, so I'm curious who will be the next main character.

Review: Lyrebird by Cecelia Ahern

Title: Lyrebird
Author: Cecelia Ahern
Published: November 3rd 2016
Date Read: April 2nd – 8th 2017
Read In: English

In the south-west of Ireland, rugged mountains meet bright blue lakes and thick forests. Deep in the woods, a young woman lives alone, forever secluded from the world, her life a well-kept secret. She possesses an extraordinary talent, the likes of which no-one has seen before: a gift that will earn her the nickname Lyrebird.

When Solomon stumbles into Laura's solitary existence, her life is turned on its head. Pulled from her peaceful landscape to the cacophony of Dublin, she is confronted by a world desperate to understand her.

But while Solomon knows the world will embrace Laura, will it free her to spread her wings – or will it trap her in a gilded cage? Like all wild birds, she needs to fly free...

I really love Cecelia Ahern and even if her books aren't the genres I usually read, I always give her books a go. When I started Lyrebird, I thought it would be a little different then it was, but I did like it. Even though all those sounds Laura makes are quite impossible for a human throat, her story was cute to read.
