Review: The Asylum Novellas by Madeleine Roux

Title: The Asylum Novellas (Asylum #1.5, #2.5, #3.5)
Author: Madeleine Roux
Published: February 2nd 2016
Date Read: December 30th 2016 – January 3rd 2017
Read In: English

There are Three Sides to Every Story...

Before Dan, Abby, and Jordan ever set foot inside the Brookline asylum, its legacy stretched far and deep. Be careful where you go digging in history. Sometimes the past is better off buried...

This book contains three stories:
 The Scarlets
 The Bone Artists
 The Warden

This book was okay. I like novellas, but while reading the Asylum trilogy I didn't like The Scarlets nor The Bone Artists and I didn't think they were interesting enough so I had to know more about them. But the story The Warden was quite good I think.

Review: Escape from Asylum by Madeleine Roux

Title: Escape from Asylum (Asylum #0.5)
Author: Madeleine Roux
Published: June 14th 2016
Date Read: December 25th – 30th 2016
Read In: English

The Nightmare is just beginning...

Ricky Desmond doesn't belong in the Brookline asylum. His parents sent him here because they think he's a deviant – and that he can be cured – but Ricky knows there's no cure for what he has.

Soon after he arrives, Ricky learns that being locked up against his will is only the beginning of his problems. Rumor has it that the Brookline warden authorizes treatments that aren't entirely... humane. That he's a butcher, a monster. And if the screams Ricky hears coming from the basement are any indication, the rumors are an understatement. Now, with the help of a nurse who feels just as trapped in Brookline as he does, Ricky must escape before the asylum claims his sanity – or his life.

Wow, i think i liked this book more than the Asylum series itself. Maybe Madeleine Roux should have started the series with this book. I liked the first book in the series a lot, but this book about Ricky and his time in Brookline when it was still an asylum, it felt different than the series. The feeling of this book is creepy and i think you can read it even if you're not interested in the series itself.

I really liked this book and i really want to read the other parts, but sometimes it takes ages for a book to be published in German. Well, they are already published in German, but i own Die for Me in paperback and the other two books aren't going to be published in paperback soon, so I thought I could buy all three books in English.
