Review: Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce

Title: Sisters Red (Fairytale Retellings #1)
Author: Jackson Pearce
Published: June 7th 2010
Date Read: November 28th - 29th 2014
Read In: English

Love and fear collide in a twilight world

Countless teenage girls have been brutally murdered... and Scarlett and Rosie March know how they died – torn apart by werewolves. For Scarlett, the memories of a similar attack have left not just emotional scars, but physical ones. The sisters fight side by side to save others from the same fate.

When the mysterious and brooding Silas arrives he inadvertently causes a series of events that could endanger them all. As passion grows between Rosie and Silas, Scarlett uncovers some shocking secrets that could tear the sisters apart – one way or another...

When i found out about this book, i couldn't wait to finally read it. Its cover is so pretty and shiny, i'm totally one you can throw a pretty cover at and i'll want to have it!

I absolutely loved this book. First, the sisters have a german Oma and sometimes she's saying things in German, i thought this was quite cute. I could totally picture her, being german myself...
Apart from that, it was a page-turner for me. I couldn't stop reading and i never wanted to put it away. Sure, it's a Fairytale Retelling and you can already tell by its cover it's about Little Red Riding Hood and everyone knows her story, but Jackson Pearce turned it into something else. She made the sisters hunters, not some whiny little girls.

Review: Fremd by Ursula Poznanski & Arno Strobel

Title: Fremd
Authors: Ursula Poznanski & Arno Strobel
Published: October 30th 2015
Date Read: January 8th - 14th 2016

This book is by two authors who write in german, so i'll sum that book up for you.

It's about a couple in Germany. The woman, named Joanna, is from Australia and currently lives in Germany with her fiancé, Erik. One evening, Joanna is minding her own business in her house, looking forward to reading the whole evening. She's in her bathroom when she hears some noise in the kitchen, so she goes down the stairs to check out where that noise came from. Pretty soon, she realizes there is someone in her house. But she lives alone, doesn't she...?

Erik on the other hand comes home that evening and notices that all of his stuff in his and Joannas house is gone. He's in the kitchen, when he hears Joanna coming down the stairs and goes to meet her in the livingroom. When she turns around and sees him, she's about to scream. She doesn't recognzie him at all, even though they've known each other for a whole year now and live together in this very house.

The beginning of this book looks like you're just going to explore why Joanna doesn't remember her own fiancé and why there is nothing left in their house that belongs to him. But in the end, it's about something different. I don't want to spoil too much, but someone in their lives is trying to kill them both but they don't know who and why. They have to trust each other to survive, but since Joanna doesn't remember Erik, it's hard for her to trust him. And even though Erik knows her with all his heart, he begins to loose his trust in her because she's trying to hurt herself and him.

Bookjournals.

I don't know if you know these cute journals exist, but i've found out about them some time ago and ordered one. Since i've finished it and there aren't enough pages for all those books i've read (not even nearly enough), i had to order a new one. I couldn't decide which one to order, so i just ordered two

But let's start with my first bookjournal, it looks like this:

It actually has 280 pages, but since i've made lists with all those books i've read since 2008, there was a lot to write about. I started with some books i've read before 2008, like Harry Potter. Then i've made a list about each year and wrote only about some books i've read in those years. But i wasn't even able to finish 2012...

Those journals i just ordered look like this:

Sure, i could've ordered the same one, but i didn't want to. It looks pretty, yes, but i didn't think what it looked like inside was what i was hoping for. I wanted to have a journal with empty stars you just had to fill in. But it didn't, so i had to order stickers to put them in for my ratings. It was quite stupid, because when i ordered them, i didn't pay much attention to from where they were sent to me. So it took some time for them to arrive because they were sent from England

This time, i ordered two journals with empty stars i have to fill in, yay.  They look different because they don't have empty pages, haha. I think i'll start with the upper one, it's little and cute. But it actually doesn't have many pages, so i'm kinda glad i've ordered a second one.

Do you have a bookjournal?

Review: Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs

Title: Library of Souls (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children #3)
Author: Ransom Riggs
Published: September 22nd 2015
Date Read: December 26th to January 5th
Read In: English

A Boy With Extraordinary Powers.
An Army Of Deadly Monsters.
An Epic Battle For The Future Of Peculiardom.

The Adventure that began with Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and continued with Hollow City comes to a thrilling conclusion with Library of Souls. As the story opens, sixteen-year-old Jacob discovers a powerful new ability, and soon he's diving through history to rescue his peculiar companions from a heavily guarded fortress. Accompanying Jacob on his journey are Emma Bloom, a girl with fire at her fingertips, and Addison MacHenry, a dog with a nose for sniffing out lost children. They'll travel from modern-day London to the labyrinthine alleys of Devil's Acre, the most wretched slum in all of Victorian England. It's a place where the fate of peculiar children everywhere will be decided once and for all. Like its predecessors, Library of Souls blends thrilling fantasy with never-before-published vintage photography to creat a one-of-a-kind reading experience.

It's been quite a time since i've read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and Hollow City, but i think i didn't forget too many details of those two books. This one is the last part of a trilogy and even though it's sad sometimes, i'm kind of glad i have finished this series. While i really liked #1, it really took me some days to finish #2. Library of Souls was quite a journey, but i'm not sure if it should have been this long. It's only a few days in the book, but while reading it felt longer. But i still liked this book and i'm glad i've discovered this trilogy by Ransom Riggs in the first place.

December Book Haul.

I've decided to post pictures of my recently bought books and since December 2015 isn't that far away, i'm going to start with this one. I thought i'll do these kind of posts at the beginning of every month and post pictures of all those books i've bought the month before.

So i've bought myself a new edition of the Harry Potter Books. I was kinda after this edition for a long time and in December i finally decided to buy them. They are so pretty and i really love those covers

On the second picture you see these books:

 Der Sommerfänger by Monika Feth
 Der Bilderwächter by Monika Feth
 Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige
 Winter by Marissa Meyer
 Ensnared by A.G. Howard
 Untamed by A.G. Howard
The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski

I've already read Ensnared, Untamed and Winter in December. I'm really excited for Dorothy Must Die and Carry On.

And for those who are interested, Monika Feth is a german author who writes different kinds of books, but the ones i'm reading are Thrillers.

Hello and Welcome!

This is my new blog about books. I love reading and i always loved blogging, so i thought i should give it a try. Actually this is my second blog about books, the first try didn't quite work out i guess. I didn't know how to make my posts, so i blogged rarely. But this time i really want to do this.

Well, who am i? My name is Jasmin, i'm 27 years old and i live in Germany. I want to have this blog in English, not German. So please forgive me if mistakes sneak in. I think my english is quite good, but surely not perfect. My last blog was in german language, but i always wanted to try blogging in english, apart from Tumblr. I'll sign my posts with J-A-Y, this kinda became my pen-nickname. I'll blog about books in german language though, because i'm reading books both in german and english.

What to expect of this blog? I want to try and write reviews, but i don't think i can write good ones, like some other people can. I will try, but mostly they will be short i guess. I just want to share my books with you and let you know how i liked them. So there will be ratings of books. In my last blog i made lists for all books i read in a certain year, so maybe i can do that here. Maybe anyone can tell me how to add a single page to this blog? Or maybe i'll figure it out myself, whatever...!

Putting up a new blog seemed a good idea for this new year 2016. So i think i'll start with the first book i read this year. But i'd like to post about books i've read in 2015 or maybe even 2014, i'm not sure yet. And let's see if this blog gets deleted, because i don't know what to expect from bloggers post about deleting everything that's not Google +. I didn't connect this account with Google +, because i really don't want to.
